21 members and their guests gathered at The Inn on the Park, Deanland on Monday 18th January to celebrate the birth of Robbie Burns with a grand Supper. A little early you might think but necessary to keep to our monthly meeting date.

We were fortunate enough to have a Piper who carried out the traditional 'piping of the haggis' followed by a rousing Address to the Haggis by Neville, full of gusto and a great test of his memory, as he made it without notes. Unfortunately, the words were a little difficult to follow but he did explain the outline of the tale and we all got the gist.

There then followed a number of other speeches made by members to the assembled company and delivered during the course of the meal. A highlight of the evening was the singing of two traditional Scottish songs by Fiona, who has a beautiful voice, accompanied by David the piper, on the keyboard. Quite magical! David then led us on the accordion in the singing of some better known Scottish songs, much to the delight of all present. At the close of the evening, it was agreed that this event had been one of the best and we will be sure to repeat it next year.

A number of East Sussex members have booked to attend the Isle of Wight Regions weekend on Friday, 22nd July for a three night stay at Warners Bembridge Hotel. The main event will be a meeting of various groups, not all Jaguar, at The Isle of Wight Steam Railway on Sunday, 24th July. Those members who would like to book should contact Sarah at Bembridge Hotel on 01983 873931 and quote code: JAGUAR BEMBRIDGE, to enjoy the special discounts available.

There will be a tribute to Nat King Cole on the Saturday night, for those who enjoy the entertainment. The region continues to flourish with a varied and interesting programme for the coming year, which will shortly be published on the website.
