Isle of Wight Report

Posted on:30/07/2016

A wonderful long weekend was had by all on the Isle of Wight. We had the pleasure of enjoying the company of our many friends from West Sussex, IOW, Kent South, North Staffs and Surrey regions, together with Peter Purdom, JEC Chair and celebrated author, Paul Skilleter, who gave an interesting overview of the recent SVO E-type Lightweight build. We were blessed with excellent weather and the hotel location was perfect, especially for those brave enough to venture in for a swim in the sea.

The many cars were amazing to see, with our good friends Gordon and AnnLyn Boyes taking second prize for Best Saloon with their beautiful Mk 2. Our hard-working Chair, Neville, having been in post for the past 6 years, has stepped down, the baton being taken up by David Harding until our AGM in October. Neville’s efforts in creating such a successful region are much appreciated and will be greatly missed.

Our next meeting on 15th August will be held at the premises of Jagtecnic, when the dark workings under all those shiny bonnets can be revealed. Full details can be found on our web site www.esjec.com for location, etc.

A reminder of a major event. West Sussex Region have invited us to their ‘Jaguars go steam’ at the Lavender Line on 4th September. The Lavender Line is located at Isfield, Nr Uckfield, TN225XB. Entry is £7 per car and further details can be obtained from the Event Organiser, Richard Treacher at richardtjaguar@gmail.com.
