Paul Chipp-Smith (ESJEC Committee Member) and owner of Jaguar Specialist company JAGtechnic (Opening soon in Eastbourne) starts his drive up to Coventry today in readiness for the start of the official Jaguar 75 Year Celebration Drive. 75 Jaguar and Daimler models have been chosen by Jaguar to commemorate the celebration drive from Jaguars spiritual home to the legendary Goodwood Circuit for the Goodwood Revival event in West Sussex.

Committee member Paul Chipp-Smith was invited to participate with his Series II 1973 SWB Daimler Sovereign. Paul will be updating this News Item over the next three days, uploading photos and further news of the event along the way.

Friday 17th 0800hrs.

We have just reached Millennium Square, adjacent to the Coventry Transport Museum. I had a good run up yesterday with three other JEC members from the East Sussex and Kent regions. Negotiating the Coventry Ring road was a nightmare; however enjoying an evening sat at Jaguar test driver Norman Dewis's dining table was fascinating.

I have just completed the second of two nerve-racking live radio interviews on BBC Sussex Radio. Breakfast show host Neil Pringle was interested in following the official Drive due to the celebrations ending in Sussex's Goodwood Race Circuit at the ever popular Revival.

We are due to start the run on an official Rallye type starting podium at 1030hrs. My car is not due to leave until 1110hrs. so I will hopefully be able to post more photos throughout the day.

Friday 1240hrs.

We have just arrived for lunch at the Vineyard at Stockcross, 92 miles from Coventry. We will soon be travelling southeast to Farnborough and on to the M3 towards London.

Saturday 0145hrs.

Just got back to my Mayfair Hotel room following a great evening downstairs in the Crystal Room, the location of the launch of the first Jaguar badged model, the two and a half litre Saloon unveiled 75 years ago.

Traffic in Knightsbridge hindered what was a great run up from Stockcross. With the cars under the night watch of the Queens Grenadier guards at Wellington Barracks, we will all sleep well.

Saturday 0545hrs.

Another early start, breakfast at 0645hrs, checkout at 0745hrs, Wellington Barracks at 0800hrs. Today we travel to the Goodwood Revival bringing our total mileage from Coventry to approximately 230 miles. We will travel out through Knightsbridge towards Chiswick and onto the M25, departing the A3 at Godalming towards Midhurst and onto Goodwood.

We will receive VIP status on arrival at Goodwood, with parking opposite the race circuit and trackside access via the War Room. Lunch will be served following the arrival of all 75 vehicles.

Saturday 2120hrs.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Jaguar team and all of those who took part in the event. I can honestly state that the stories and friendships created over the last few days will be spoke of for many years to come.
